Verse of the Day May 9th

Ephesians 6:10

Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength.

Meaning of the Verse:

Full passage:

10 Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and by his vast strength. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this darkness, against evil, spiritual forces in the heavens. 13 For this reason take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having prepared everything, to take your stand. 14 Stand, therefore, with truth like a belt around your waist, righteousness like armor on your chest, 15 and your feet sandaled with readiness for the gospel of peace. 16 In every situation take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit—which is the word of God. 18 Pray at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and request, and stay alert with all perseverance and intercession for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that the message may be given to me when I open my mouth to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. 20 For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be bold enough to speak about it as I should.

Explanation:

This passage is about " Christian Warfare" Paul in this passage is talking about the battles we face daily in this spiritual warfare. That's right "Spiritual warfare" not human warfare, some believers forget when we are speaking to non-believers or dealing with people attacking the faith and truth of God's living word they are not our enemy. Our enemy is the evil one and his dominion, the people our are mission field but, I digress. Because today in this passage it's talking about, yes putting on the armor of God. But also, keeping it on and never taking it off. For the devil walks around like a prying lion waiting for his chance to devour you. Remember, we may be saved spiritually but we still have our sinful bodies which means not only are we still capable of sin. But Satan, the prince of the power of the air has his gaze on us because he knows he can't take us out of the Father's hands. But, if he can manage to get us in a snare of sin that loops around like a pattern it will render us useless to the kingdom of God. That's why Paul says to put on the full armor of God and to read the word. That's your sword, our main source of power is truth God's living word. Satan knows the bible better than any man, and that's why his favored thing to do is to twist scripture to cause confusion. He tried to do the same with Jesus but he knew the word of God and resisted all of Satan's attacks and rebuked him and he fled. Our job is to attack back with the truth or the living word and defend ourselves from his deception. Rebuke the evil one in the name of Jesus, we have no power in self but in the power from the Holy Spirit given to us by God.
