Verse of the Day May 1st

Verse of the Day May 1st

1 Corinthians 1:24&25

24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

Meaning of the Verse:

Full passage:

Christ the Power and Wisdom of God

18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but it is the power of God to us who are being saved. 19 For it is written,

I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the intelligence of the intelligent.

20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish? 21 For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of what is preached. 22 For the Jews ask for signs and the Greeks seek wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles. 24 Yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, 25 because God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom, and God’s weakness is stronger than human strength.

Explanation:

There is power in the message of the Gospel, the good news we proclaim and preach is just foolishness to those of unbelief. For the people of unbelief pride themselves in built up knowledge and worldly wisdom. They debate us, try to make fools of us or try to put together in there own words what something means. But no amount of wisdom or worldly knowledge can compare to God's wisdom. That is why any time they try to give an answer of what God has already explained in his word like "How was the world created" or "Is truth subjective" even "Is God truly Fair and Just". God displays his power and wisdom turning all proclaimed wise men of this age into foolish men who know nothing. And all who looked down on so called "foolish Christians" God makes them in to wise men preaching his perfect Word. Remember, all man has to offer are theory's and guesstimates but God and his perfect wisdom and power offers absolutes and truth statements because the Lord is all knowing and we are not. So lets humble our selves in wisdom and understanding, and instead boast and praises God in all the wisdom and power he has, because without him we would have no wisdom nor understanding.
